HD DVD SuperBowl Ad

Need I say more?

Toshiba battles on....

....And some of us thought that the format war was over with Warner's announcement.

Who was it who said: "It ain't over till it's over" ? (Much like tonight's Superbowl game)

Now that you mention it, I don't remember seeing this add. When did it play?

Saw it tonight on TV, and you can see it here also:

Super Bowl Ads: 2008 - SPIKE powered by IFILM

Scroll down the list until you get to this:

"Get the Most Out of HD
Toshiba
Posted Today
Commercials - Take your HD viewing experience to the max with the latest and greatest in Toshiba DVD players."

and you'll be able to play it.

I read somewhere that Toshiba paid ~ $2.7 M to run this ad tonight.

Also saw it on ESPN-HD post game show.

Re: HD DVD SuperBowl Ad

I was reading a thread on highdefdigest where it was determined that, based on some people seeing the ad and others not seeing it, that it was not a national ad and only aired in some markets.

It didn't air here.

Maybe they didn't actually spend 2.5M for the SB spot since it apparently did not air across all markets in the US. Looked quite underwhelming.

Re: HD DVD SuperBowl Ad

It played on our Fox HD channel - our cable company didn't override the US feed with the Canadian version. The ad was underwhelming, but for what they supposedly paid, was it too little (/much?) too late?

Re: HD DVD SuperBowl Ad

It didn't air here in Salt Lake. It was probably aired when the local commercials were on.

I did hear that the commercial wasnt even in HD (According to the Digital Bits). That is just too funny.

Seems like a waste of money if you ask me. To pay that much for a spot that was not even shown to a lot of major markets.

Re: HD DVD SuperBowl Ad

Aired here in Seattle. Was watching local Fox-HD over the air as opposed to via DirecTV which sometimes overides the local spots. It was not in HD and it looked to me like a commercial I had seen in the past.
