Onkyo TX SR-605

This is my first post. Hope I did it right. I have a couple of questions I would like to verify about the Onkyo SR-605. I am a little confused after reading all the specs. I have an older Sony HDTV( KP-57WV600) that has no HDMI just DVI. Is it true I will need to run seperate audio cables? I am also considering purchasing a 1080P upconverting dvd player. I read that the 605 switching passes the signal thru. I also thought that somewhere in the many forums I read that the 605 upconverts the signal also. This makes me wonder if I need a new dvd player or whether the signal will be upconverted by the receiver, or just passed thru.
Also, my TV owners manual doesn't say whether it will process 1080p. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks

Re: Onkyo TX SR-605

the hdmi to dvi from the 605 receiver and the tv set will work just fine.. I use that.

I have my HDdvd and ps3 hooked up through the receiver and my satalite hooked up through the components. I use HDMI with the HDdvd and ps3, and they pass with 1080I and the components pass with 720P. my tv can only do 1080I.
