% chance ps3 will decode dts-ma in next 3 months

The only thing holding me back from buying a ps3 is no dts-ma. I have an older receiver so i need a player to decode it internally. I've searched the internet in search of an answer. It seems as if this was supposed to happen last year around this time. When is this gonna go down? Will it ever? Somebody has to know something.

If your receiver doesn't have HDMI capabilties, you'll never get the decoded DTS-MA audio tracks from your PS3 because the PS3 can only output DTS-MA via HDMI. If you were forced to use a non-HDMI receiver that has optical audio input, you'd get just the DTS-Core audio channels from the optical audio output of the PS3.

have one with hdmi 1.2a, so that should work

I would say that the percentage is much lower (say around 20%) if you're talking strictly within the next 3 months, but I would bet it's about 99% if we're talking within the next year.

This is just my gut feeling, I have no insider information.

Side question.

What exactly does the PS3 do right now w/ a title like Hairspray? Does it output 640Kbps DD 5.1 as an option like all other titles I own? OR does it only do DTS core plus something worse for DD?

Hmmm... Guess I should just find out for myself when I watch it tonight or something, LOL.
