The Blu-ray release of 'Blood Diamond' has just been announced by Warners, and the following web page has pictures of the cover art for both the BD and the standard DVD releases:

This makes it obvious that the cover art on the Blu-ray (and HD-DVD) release has been deformed by squashing it down vertically to fit the different shape of the boxes. In this case, they could have simply cut off the bottom bit of the picture without resorting to this kind of distortion. Maybe it's a relatively minor point, but it's still kind of annoying.
Is this kind of deformation the "standard" approach being taken by the studios for cover art on Hi-Def releases?
