Oppo 921 or this?
http://shopping.yahoo.com/p:Philips+...Nwcm9kc3BlY3M-
I have a 720p front projector, and want to have a better picture quality than SD DVD movies. Those are very, very good through this projector, but it'll be better with an upconverting DVD player. Is there any reason why I should spend $230 for the Oppo vs. $70 for the Philips DVP5960?
Thanks!

Re: Oppo 921 or this?
Yes, there is one big reason - the Oppos are proven to give excellent picture quality bar none. So if it is PQ you are after, the choice seems simple enough.

Re: Oppo 921 or this?
Hmm. Here's an idea.
Pick up copies of "outland" and "monty python's meaning of life". Try playing them on this player, using a progressive connection. Are they watchable? Or do they tear and comb?
I like the oppo 971 because it doesn't break a sweat with those dvds.

Re: Oppo 921 or this?
I purchased an Oppo player a little over a year ago with my Sanyo Z3 projector which is also 720p. It did a great job and I am glad I purchased it. Now, however, I have a Toshiba HD A2. The Oppo is now a cd player.... which it also does very nicely!
My next goal is to find a SD DVD player with large capacity (400 disc) That upconverts at least as well as the OPPO if not better. I saw a decent Sony yesterday but I was not overwhelmed with the image quality, I just want to be able to store my cases in the garage.

Re: Oppo 921 or this?
Another great thing about the Oppo is that it's very easy to make it region free.
