Any News On 2nd Gen Blu-ray Players?
Has anyone heard any news during CES or since the end of the show. When we can exspect to see 2nd generation Blu-ray players that will include HDMI 1.3? I really want a Blu-ray player but I am thinking it would be better to wait for the HDMI 1.3 since I will be buying a new HDMI 1.3 receiver at the end of the year. Is there any news about Panasonic, Pioneer or Sony using HDMI 1.3 any time this year?

Other than news that Samsung was reading a second gen player, I did not hear any. I am not sure if specs were released for the Samsung.

Toshiba HD-XA2, HD Add-on, Panasonic DMP-BD10A Pioneer VSX-94TXH, Panasonic PT-AE 2000U 1080p (delivered but not mounted yet) 252 HD DVDs, 65 BD DVDs, and over 1560 - SD DVDs and going down New buying strategy - I will continue to buy Universal and Paramount HD DVD's, but if it available in both formats, Blu-ray now gets my purchase.

Re: Any News On 2nd Gen Blu-ray Players?
I'm waiting for this info as well. Kills me every time I plunk out $$ for a SD DVD these days.
Fingers crossed for an inexpensive BD player with 7.1 outputs as I can't swing upgrade dollars for a HDMI receiver.

I thought I read somewhere that Sonys 2nd generation one comes out in March...
I have the $$ I am just waiting for a player with the audio decoders built in.

Re: Any News On 2nd Gen Blu-ray Players?
If the player has HDMI 1.3 I will be thrilled and I might end up buying that instead of the Panasonic. I am still saving up for the player, it sucks not having the money to just buy what you want, when you want.
I guess if it also has built in decoding it would be a win - win as I would have a player that could decode lossless. Untill I could save up for a new reciever to take the place of my old Yamaha RX-V995.

This should be about the time Samsung has their second generation unit available. As I have been adequately pleased with my current Samsung, I think I will seriously look at their new unit when it releases.

Here is part of what I had seen. I can't remember where I saw the March launch date and since I haven't seen anything else on it we will probably be waiting awhile..

Re: Any News On 2nd Gen Blu-ray Players?
From what I remember from all the CES coverage I read the new Sony models weren't working units. They were simply display models which hints to me that they won't be out until much later this year.
DVD & Blu-ray - It's all about the movies!
