HD-DVD Buyers' Guide. Everything in One Place.

This is an interesting review/buyers guide of all existing HD-DVD players. They will be posting a BD buyers soon.

Quote:
There's something of a battle underway right now between two different blue-violet laser-based high definition DVD formats: HD-DVD and Blu-ray. Despite that, we believe there's enough good gear of great interest on both sides of this hot contest to warrant a buyer's guide for equipment using both standards. In this article we will take a look at two kinds of equipment offerings that involve HD-DVD technology: standalone HD-DVD players; and PC-oriented HD-DVD players and burners (some internal, others external). • Toshiba HD-XA2, HD Add-on, Panasonic DMP-BD10A
  • Pioneer VSX-94TXH, Panasonic PT-AE 2000U 1080p (delivered but not mounted yet)
  • 252 HD DVDs, 65 BD DVDs, and over 1560 - SD DVDs and going down
  • New buying strategy - I will continue to buy Universal and Paramount HD DVD's, but if it available in both formats, Blu-ray now gets my purchase.

Cool. Though it drives me absolutely crazy when I see HD DVD spelled with a hyphen. It is not 'HD-DVD', its 'HD DVD'. Same thing with 'Bluray', 'blue-ray', etc. It is a stupid, little nitpick, I know. But I think it says something larger about the confusion and lack of market-penetration both formats have caused and encured.

I think you see the hphen alot so there is not confusion that they are talking about the format, not High Def DVD's, which can be either format. Certainly the reason I use the hyphen.
