01 system error / frozen HD-a1

Power on and the front panel reads 01 system error and goes no further. Even forced power off/ unplugging the ac doesn't reset it. Anyone else run into that before?

Of course customer service won't be open till tomarrow, just wondering if someone had ran into this and been able to rectify it themself.

Thanks

I don't recall seeing this error from any A1 owners. I would at least take the cover off aand re-seat the 1GB memory chip and check all the internal ribbon cables for proper connection including the IDE cable going to the NEC HD DVD drive.

Doing this (take cover off) won't void any warranties will it (no seals or anything that will show the cover has came off is there), the player is only about a month old right now.

There are no QC seals on the player that I know of. Just make sure to un-plug the player before taking the cover off.
