Just picked up a Panasonic BR player
My brilliantly laid out plan was to wait for the arrival of the Sony blu-ray player........... Well, I just picked up a Panasonic player. It basically has and does everything I want from a blu-ray player from what I have heard with the promise of being upgradable to lossless audio via firmware in the very near future. I will need that because my current (new) receiver does not support hdmi 1.3 so if the blu-ray player has onboard processing for dts-hd and dd-truehd then I should be set (in theory). The same store where I got this one had the Samsung for cdn$400 less than this model but I beat the price down a bit so I don't feel too bad.
I should get in on Mon or Tue and will fiddle around with it on Thu and Fri of this coming week. My plan is to hook up to my current projector via component and then use both hdmi and analogue (6 channel) for the audio and be able to switch/select the audio of my choice. The player does actually have 8 channel analogue audio but my receiver (as most do) only accepts 6 channel analogue audio.
I will keep you up-to-date but any suggestions from my more experienced conrads will be appreciated.
