BTW, when playing 360 games, the fan in the 360 does crank up to high and is noticable.

Ventilation around the unit is fine and I don’t keeps games in the 360 when watching a movie. I have no idea what is causing the fans to run so fast. I solved the problem and just got me a HD-A2 player. Now I sold the 360 HD player so I can get the Sony blu-ray player. The sound when using the toslink on the A2 player is much better and is not causing my system to sound flat. But now I’m using the HDMI audio to get multi channel and I love it

Posting a solution for my own posted problem. It turns out I just needed an update for the HD_DVD player itself. I had to pop in the movie and the update came up. All's well now....

I have a 360 and want to get the HD add on but there is something I don't understand. I do not have the internet at my house so how can I update my unit? It seems like the Add on is pretty nice for the money but I won't be able to get any of the patches it has or will have for it. Is this correct or am I missing something?

The add-on comes with a disc to update the 360. You can also burn the updates to a cd or dvd if more come available.

Re: Official XBox 360 HD-DVD add-on Review Thread

I have a question about the HD add=on

I bought a 360 from the UK last year. Does anybody know if there are any compatibility problems with buying the add-on from the US. My understanding is that HD is region free but I was unsure if this would work with a games machine.

Thanks for any help you can give me

When you walk through a storm, hold your head up high, And don't be afraid of the dark.
At the end of a storm, there's a golden cloud, and the sweet silver song of a lark,
Walk on through the wind, Walk on through the rain, Though your dreams may be tossed and blown,
Walk on, Walk on, with hope in your heart and you'll never walk alone,
YOU'LL NEVER WALK ALONE!!

Re: Official XBox 360 HD-DVD add-on Review Thread

Is there any improvement in the picture quality of SD DVD's, without the VGA connection? Unfortunately, component is my only option for connection to the TV.

Re: Official XBox 360 HD-DVD add-on Review Thread

Here's a problem I'm hoping someone can help me with. A few weeks ago while watching Spartacus on my add on, I noticed a strange green-purple band slowly traveling up my televisios screen. As it passed through the image, colors were affeceted to a small degree, depending on the color on screen. I had never noticed this before, and I'm pretty observent when it come to stuff like this. Deciding to upgrade the standard component cable to to monster cables did not change the strange banding issue (thank god I got them off Ebay). I have a Sony KDF 42A10, running at 720p. I have never seen this phenomenon before, either with my HD cable box (via HDMI) or my upconverting dvd player (Denon 1910, component 720p) or on any games. Any ideas/help is much appreciated as I really don't want to call Microsoft and have to beat my head against a wall as I try and expalin the situation to a CS person on the phone.

The supplied disk does not include the current live updates for the HD-DVD Add on. You will need to burn a DVD from the site Neal posted.

JediFonger-

I haven't yet, but I've heard that it works. What software are you using to view the HD-DVD's on your PC?
