Does the HD-A1 support DVD-A?

I've searched, but can't find the answer. If I get this player, I would like to make room for it by clearing out a componant, but that would mean getting rid of my Denon DVD-1600 which does my DVD-A playback.

Regards,
Phil

Are you refering to DVD-Audio?

If so, the HD-A1 does NOT support it. It will play it back in Dolby Digital.

My Denon receiver only has one set of six inputs. Thus, I lost DVD-Audio.

I am stuck in the same boat as well. My Yamaha RX-V995 only has one 5.1 input so I had to give up using my Denon DVD-2200 for SACD and DVD-A. Well actually I can listen to 2 channel SACD with my Sony DVP-S9000 ES as a cd / sacd player, even though its a dvd player as well.

I was alittle disapointed that the HD-A1 did not support DVD-A but I will live with it. Especially since the price was good and it does such a great job at upscaling SD-DVD and playing HD discs.

Re: Does the HD-A1 support DVD-A?

I am a bit disappointed about this too, for the same reasons as mentioned, only 1 5.1 analog input into my amp.

Does anyone know if this is a chipset issue or a firmware issue?

Reason I ask, maybe it is possible to include DVD-a support via a firmware upgrade in a future firmware update?

I do not know if that is technically feasible although given the decline (possibly exstinction) of the format, I can't seeing it being a cost to anyone to include in an update.

If it is possible to add DVD-a support via a firmware update, maybe we should start a petition to Toshiba.
