DD True HD & PCM5.1 hookup question/request
To those of you that have players already, do any of you (or can any of you) hookup your audio using analog 6 channel cables between your player and receivers. Has anyone tried to play the lossless audio format over this connection yet and if possible, can it be tried?

I am using the analogs and tried the TruHD on Phantom. Meh. When I went back to the 5.1 mode it sounded a tad better to me. But this isn't my main HT receiver, as that's in my HT with my projector.
And you believe, at heart, everyone's a killer...

From the HD DVD player, you will only get 2.0 Dolby TrueHD at this time, since the player doesn't contain decoders for the full set of channels. At least, that's what I understand from reading all the threads about it. Of course, Rob_HD says that the next firmware update will include 5.1 THD. I have no comment on the possible reliability of his expectations.

Sure, there should be no problem with that. That's the whole reason they put the PCM tracks on : it's a format which needs no decoders, only the DACs [which are there anyway, or the jacks would be dead].

I posted this response in another thread about Blu-ray and PCM 5.1 audio.
On a sidebar, I think you have the Yamaha 2600? If so, can you connect an HDMI input with a 1080I signal and output that same 1080I signal through a component output without it downsizing it from 1080I to 480P/480I?
