So, are you going to go all the way and install the current vBulletin 3.5.0 software? That could RADICALLY change the look of Home Theater Forum, that's to be sure.

Yes, it will radically change the way
HTF looks alright.

Actually, many of you are probably already
aware of how much better the new software is
as many other bulletin boards are now using it.

We are actually one of the last boards to
upgrade simply because Parker has done so many
personal additions to the current software that
we were not in a hurry to upgrade.

Once we do switch over to the new software I
think everyone is going to be quite pleased.

Ronald,

You might want to pass out the smelling salts because given the comparisons between the vBulletin 2.3.6 software you folks are now using and the vBulletin 3.5.0 software I've seen on a couple of boards I frequent, so many things will be different you almost have to re-learn the entire BBS interface. And I'm probably not kidding, either.

This sounds like.....fun!

There's Jessie the yodeling cowgirl. Bullseye, he's Woody's horse. Pete the old prospector. And, Woody, the man himself. Of course, it's time for Woody's RoundUp. He's the very best! He's the rootinest, tootinest cowboy in the wild, wild west!

Ray,

I hang out on the Acura forum which uses
the new version of this BBS software.

There doesn't seem to be a learning curve
at all regarding the software. In fact, it
seems very easy to navigate through.

...of course that's just my opinion.

I've seen it and helped Beta-test it. I give it a big thumbs up, liked it a lot. Differences? The post area is wider for a start, yay it's in >widescreen<, great for showing off those screengrabs! Quoting from posts is much better now, when you want to quote from another post just click on the icon on their post and hey presto the quote appears in your post with the name of the quoter in bold on top, nice, you can still do it manually of course, and the quote box replicates smileys and pictures easily too. If the original quote had italics or words in bold they'll be copied exactly the same way in the quote box.

There's plenty more nifty bits and bobs to explore and discover when we move there. And there will be members who'll miss the old forum, nostalgia and all that, but they'll eventually get used to the new.

As I posted above, we would like to make
the transition today...

...however, it would affect some of the
ad campaigns we are running now as well
as having to rework our entire front page.

We are trying to time this in a manner that
it can be done as efficiently as possible.

I thought that 12:01 AM on Saturday would affect the least amount of viewers - or whatever your slowest period is.

But we don't have any idea how long it is going to take to get this up and running. One hour? Five? 2 days! (Just kidding on that one).

Is there a betting pool somewhere so we can get in on a little action?
