A few words about....Blu-Ray

All of these threads may have started as dealing with one format or the other, and either hardware/tech or software/studio support, but by this point they all seem to mirror each other. Indeed, myself and others have posted an announcement or interview to multiple threads just to bring them all up to speed. It's become almost impossible to separate discussion on one format from the other at this point because, after all, it is a format war.

So, I'd like to start a discussion on merging it all into one or two mega-threads. Obviously, it's all up to the moderators, but I'm hoping that we can find some way to simplify the discussions so that we're not repeating ourselves in several places. Any suggestions? Questions? Possible thread title(s)?

You're starting another (hi def DVD) thread to suggest the consolidation of various others?

Although I'm glad to see your acknowledgement that all of the threads above had their own genesis in discrete (sub-)issues, I would disagree that they now "mirror" each other.

For instance, there are many people who probably have little interest in the status of the HD DVD release slate but who have been and remain interested in general tech discussion of the Blu-ray format.

I think your suggestion has some merit, but I think the best remedy is for us all to redouble our efforts to post our contributions to only the most appropriate thread. I for one am not interested in seeing all of the discussion collapsed into one (or even two) omnibus gumbo discussion monsters.

Personally, I also don't see these threads mirroring
each other.

Each thread brings the topic in a different direction.

To consolidate all those threads and ideas into
one single mega thread would be too cumbersome for
most of the membership to read.
