Two very useful features, located in each member's profile, for looking at posts by that member are:
  • Search for all posts by _______
  • Find threads started by _______
What would be nice is to also have a "Find threads participated in by _______" option such that it lists each thread a member has posted in rather than each individual post, or only threads that they have started.

If this can be done I'm sure I am not the only one that would find it a welcome addition.

BTW: For members who may stumble across this, I discovered a nice semi-hidden search feature. When looking at a list of threads, most of the time the number of "replies" is a java-link that when clicked pops up a small window showing a list of every member who has participated in the thread and how many times they have posted in that thread. As an added bonus each of those are links to the member's profile and a trimmed version of the thread showing only the posts in their entirety by that member.

This is a very nice feature that after discussing with several other HTF members I was surprised no one knew about it.

Kudos for putting together and maintaining such a well thought out Forum.

If you can add a "Find threads participated in by _______" option i will be all the more impressed!

Thanks!

Cool, thanks Nils. I know the boys in a certain highly classified area are aware of this and use it to keep score.

That has been a feature of this board for about 3 years now. Glad you finally found it.

Nils:

I am not sure how to go about the feature you are wanting to implement Nils but I will check into it.

Nils:

Try the new search icon next to the regular search icon in the toolbar and see if that is what you are talking about being able to do.

:b (at least I know I was not the last to discover it)

The following news is yet another example why HTF continues to prove to be one of the best forums on the internet!

So my mama was right... if you don't ask for it you wont get it, and if you ask the evil genius that lives in the cellar he'll make it for you in a jiffy.

You are officially... "Da-Man" and I am officially impressed!

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

So... does this also mean this new search option will be unofficially named after me?

BTW... Thanks for changing the default sort from "ascending" to "desending".

(I wasn't going to ask as I assumed I had used up my one HTF wish for the year. That, and it was easy enough for me to just replace the "asc" with "de" in the URL addy, but having descending date as the default is certainly more convenient.)

Thanks again!

NOW BACK TO THE CELLAR - YOU HAVE WORK TO DO!

I once had a descending Nils button...but a quick visit to the doctor fixed it right up.

There's Jessie the yodeling cowgirl. Bullseye, he's Woody's horse. Pete the old prospector. And, Woody, the man himself. Of course, it's time for Woody's RoundUp. He's the very best! He's the rootinest, tootinest cowboy in the wild, wild west!
