Although I'm guessing they'd never say as much, I think Parker & Ron must be a bit disappointed by the fact that the bar graph is STILL around the 40% mark
I'd have posted this to the main forum if I thought it wouldn't get moved, so more people could read it, but c'mon forum users, this HAS to be a forum (if no other) that really cries out for your support because it deserves it - it's earned it!

Where else could you get this wealth of information, help, guidance & support - all freely given?

Who else gives you access to studio chats and generally does so much for it's members?

And who else does it so well, so professionally and with such a fast and reliable system?

C'mon, you know it makes sense.... you know it's worth it

We are disappointed, but what can we do?

It's funny - if every member gave a mere $10
we wouldn't have to run these donation drives
for years to come.

The donation drive ends at the end of the
month.

I can only imagine the time you must put into this forum Ron, so I guess the support (or lack of it) must choke you and PArker quite a bit.
Feel free to move my message to a more 'visible' forum if you'd like - maybe as a last ditch 'call to attention' from the members.

Good luck regardless, and my Paypal account will be back

Well, I sometimes wonder how active the majority of the 45,000+ members are. If someone signed up 5 years ago and never came back, are they still card carrying members?

Lets appeal to those on line right now!

If you'll all send in $410....Ron will have the figure he's looking for.

And no more fundraising for years.

Not to mention how many use the forum as an info resource, but don't even join or actively participate.

Yes, I feel a bit ashamed with our membership too.

I happen to frequent this forum during hours that most Americans are asleep (I guess). I can tell you that the active members online count almost NEVER ducks under 500. So if just all one-moment visitors would donate a mere $25 (not to mention a few hours' or days' worth more of online members), Ron and Parker would be out of trouble for a whole year.
(Just checked: 1609 online members this very moment! Meaning $7.50 each would suffice.)

How very often do we see people who are really helped here? How many people come here daily purely for the joy they receive each moment? Don't all posters to those huge threads we have enjoy the vivid discussions therein and their opportunity to contribute? What's the cost of a subscription to a magazine (you can only read)?

Like I said: it's a shame. Makes one ponder.

Sorry to hear about the lack of donations - as Ron said, if everyone (or at least the regulars) would just donate ten bucks, that'd help a lot.

Like Cees, I'm always impressed by our members/visitors-online stats. Only a few years ago, it was typical to see only 300 or fewer members and guests online when I logged on from home at night here on the West Coast. Now, no matter when I log on, there are almost always a thousand or more people surfing the boards.

This is a resource with a unique balance of coverage. There are other fine home theater-related message boards, but where else can you run into the diversity and level of discourse that's so common here?

Every little bit helps.

So what was the final total Ron/Parker, and what shape does that put us in for the future?

Stewart,

We collected approximately $6,000 which was half
the total we were looking for.

That puts us in good shape for the next 6-7 months.

Fortunately we have picked up some new advertisers
that will help fill in the gap.

I hope to soon write a general thank you to everyone
that donated. In advance, Thank You to everyone that
helped.
