Here is a thread I started on a burgeoning forum (cadillacforums):

Why am I advocating all this? because I find it more comfortable to read or keep track of a thread when it is all on one page. When popular threads that might receive 10-15 replies per day suddenly balloon to 30 replies by the next day, I start to lose track of where I am. Another issue with multiple page threads is the lost audience when a thread goes onto another page especially if it is only somewhat interesting.

Go to your user control panel, then to edit options, then change "Default Posts per Thread:" to 40 and your wish will be granted.
