When the request was made to start entering HTF through a new door I checked it out, and quickly decided I'd stick with my old habits.
A new habit, and the wealth of info at the new entrance, should be encouraged.
My question, and confusion, is the interchanging use of "HOME".."New Home Page"..."Home Theater Forum"..."Forum Listings."
I would think that clicking on ANY of these, EXCEPT "Forum Listings" would bring one, consistantly, to the new, "New Home Page." But, it ain't so.

Let me address one aspect of your concern and
leave the other to Parker.

What we encourage most to the membership is to
enter this forum through the newly constructed
front page no matter how you feel about it.
This forum is not making enough money to
support its rapid growth. We are running a
donation drive, but only a minority of the
thousands that visit this forum daily to get
their news and information are bothering to
donate. With 45,000 members (and thousands
more who just read), you would think we would
have reached our goal by now.
We asked members to use the front page to
access this forum because it's the only
way that we stand a chance of getting top-dollar
advertisers, which this site desperately needs.
We understand that there aren't any major news
items on that page, but we do have the
latest reviews, forum posts and upcoming events
exclusively listed on that page. In the future
we hope to add hardware reviews via partnerships
with other sites.
As noted above, no matter how you feel about
that home page, we have politely asked our members
to use it. It takes a matter of seconds to enter
our site through that page and then click on
FORUM DISCUSSIONS to get to the forum
listings area. A matter of seconds of your time
is all we ask to help support a site that we are
providing to you at no charge.
We aren't going to list LIVE CHAT events, contests
or other forum activities anywhere else. If you
continue to bypass the new page you may be left out
cold on something you may have wished you had known
about in advance.
We are desperately trying to improve that home
page. The problem is that we are not a news site
and we don't have any professional journalists
working for us that can provide content. This is
a hobbyists site, and we so much depend on our
membership to use and support this site in a manner
that will keep us in business.

Thanks for your response Ron. The point I thought was worth making is that if you scoll to the Top or Bottom of this thread and click on the word HOME....you will NOT be taken to the newly constructed front page.
Is this an oversight?

I noticed you made the change to the "Home" link in the breadcrumb to point to the new index page. I think a similar change should be made to the Home Theater Forum Logo at the top of every page, and also to the link to the Home Theater Forum in the top navigational bar.

At this rate we're going to lose all links to the forum index page.
The ultimate solution to this problem is join the two pages together, make it one long page, sure you'll get some bitching and moaning at the beginning but people will get used to it in time.

There is still the FORUM link in the breadcrumb that links to the forum index.
