HTF T-Shirts. And Fund Raising.

I was just wondering if the Home Theater Forum has considered selling T-shirts or other merchandise for the possibility of maybe raising some more capital?

On a similar topic, what would I have to do in order to get permission to use the HTF logo and such on a self-produced shirt or hat?

Parker is correct.

A few years back at the urgence of the membership,
we opened up an online store. We sold shirts, hats,
jackets -- you name it.

Less than 100 people bought the merchandise.

I remember you guys did that a while back. Why not just try using something like Cafepress.com? You dont put any money upfront and can sell a wide range of items

Joey,

Looked at the site, and I must say that I
am somewhat impressed.

Have you ever bought something through this
site or set something up for yourself?

I'm interested in knowing about the quality
of merchandise they sell. I don't want our
members buying cheap t-shirts, jackets or badly
manufactured items.

I use cafepress.com for my local ht forum's merchandise. I will vouch for the quality of their goods.

I have one jersey, one t-shirt, one stainless travel coffee mug, one normal coffee mug, and one hooded sweatshirt. They've all survived multiple trips through the washer and dryer or dishwasher.

Just be sure you upload *high* quality logos, images, etc. to get good print-quality graphics.

Nathan:

When you uploaded a *high* quality image to them for your local ht forum merchandise did you make up your own logo or ours? No problem if you used ours just wanting to know what you used and how it turned out.

Parker,

Now worries-- I didn't use anything from the HTF.

I made my own graphics for my own Atlanta forum and uploaded them to cafepress.com. They're all Atlanta specific and have nothing to do with the HTF.

They turned out quite nice. Cafepress has image creation and uploading guidelines ("use AAA by BBB resolution", etc.) which help the novice (namely myself).

One note: they have a warning plastered everywhere that "What you see is what you get" which one should heed. If your image looks like garbage when you make it, your t-shirt will look like garbage, too.

Have you ever bought something through this

You may use your own graphics. I would though keep it simple. It seems the higher end graphics don't stand the test of time (as far as t-shirts go). I have bought and sold several cafepress items, the quality is good not stellar.
