Time for a separate TV on DVD forum?

How about a separate 'TV on DVD' forum here on the HTF?

http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/ doesn't have a forum of it's own - they link directly to the HTF.

There is a lot of discussion of TV DVDs here but it tends to get a little lost in all the movie DVD talk.

I think a separate 'TV on DVD' forum would be great.

What do you think?

Sven,

My first inclination was to suggest trying
the TVSHOWSONDVD forum. Not that we normally
try to nudge our readers elsewhere, but that
site really has grown into something notable
in this DVD community of ours.

Then I realized through your post that WE are
their forum, in the same way that we serve
THEDIGITALBITS.COM.

I like your idea, Sven. I even think perhaps
we can do something in conjunction with
TVSHOWSONDVD to make such an area happen.
Of course, this is all off the top of my head
and I'd have to discuss it with our staff and
of course, my partner.

We'll throw this idea around and see what we
come up with.

I think this should happen; right now, it's hard to keep track of the mix of TV show releases and theatrical releases, and seperating the two would better serve both

Not to be the only voice of dissent, but I rather like being able to surf both at the same time on one section. That's just me though, there would certainly be some advantages to having them separate.

Don't worry, you're not.

Yeah, unfortunately the idea is not going over
very well with the staff.

Their opinions highly influence any changes we
make here.

I would like to throw in my two cents, and say that I think a tv on dvd forum would be a good idea.

Maybe the tvshowsondvd.com guys could start a forum on their own - but I don't know whether they have the bandwidth and/or the time to maintain it.

It's just that the TV on DVD discussions appeal to a smaller crowd than movie news and that's why they often get buried in the Software forum.

If you didn't always have to check page 5 or use the search function to find anything on a TV show the discussions would become a lot livelier.

Do you really think that someone who has something to say or a question to ask will refrain from doing so just because a prior thread isn't immediately visible? The more common scenario is that someone just starts a new thread without looking for an old one (or without looking very far).

Experience has shown us that creating new subdivisions doesn't generate more discussion. New areas are created when the existing discussion has become so active that it clearly can support its own area. This is not the case with TV shows on DVD.
