Tony,

That area shouldn't even be visible to members.

It is an area we use to update our new home page.

I suppose the software has been acting whacky as of late.

Parker, I can still see it, but cannot access this. You'll need to alter the forum permissions so that "Can view forum" for "Registered users", "Unregistered/Not Logged In" etc is set to "no"

Darren.

Thanks for the heads up that you could still see it. I had it turned off and it got turned back on again. I am again not sure why but I have been experiencing a lot of glitches on the forum of late and this just sounds like another one.

No problem. If there's anything I can try to help with drop me an email. Just wait until you upgrade to vb3 They've changed a lot.

That is going to be a real pain in the ass. With all the changes that we have made to this forum I am not sure we will ever upgrade to vB3 and I know a lot of webmasters of other sites that feel the same way.

Now if they made it so that you could just import the user information, posts and threads from 2.xx to 3.xx then that would be another matter altogether. Just create another database, import the data and then fire up the other database.

How is it that much better than what is already in use?

Your suggestion sounds better to me. I've heard of the upgrade process taking a long time on some big forums.

I think it'll be a case of saying "what new features does vb3 offer that you don't already have?" You've got a very successful forum here and it's one of the biggest vbulletin insalls (certainly in terms of users online). If it aint broke...

Kudos on the new homepage. I've only just noticed it. I like it
There's a version of one of these homepage "portals" for vb3 available at vbulletin.nl. It's called vb advanced homepage or something similar, So at least that's one less thing to worry about if you do upgrade.

Darren.

Like you said I have to really look at what vB3 offers over what we already have and from what I can see not much. I do like some of the new calendar features, etc. but as long as they don't just stop supporting or writing hacks for vB 2.xx then I am going to stick with what we have for now.
