I've been hesitant to bring this up, not wanting to bug Packy with picky-picky, but today's a good time.

I dont know how much VBulletin and the existing server interact with this, but I have given up on the "Last Post" linkages: Provided (a) from the master index of forums and (b) for a thread within a specific forum.

I have DSL and am used to "fast" download action, still these forwarding links can churn 30 seconds or longer. So I escape and just open the thread and scroll to the end.

Time of day and no. of users online dont seem to directly correlate to the lag.

So perhaps the new server install and set-up will have the juice to pump some nitro into the gas fueling this(these) functions.

I am hoping on the new servers speeding everything up. Like you said number of users online and time of day have no barring on the lag. With the new server arrangement we are going to be loading the forum side into RAM and the database server will only have to take care of the database. As it is set up now the webserver and database are sharing resources. The new layout should speed up things considerably.
