How is Forum traffic these days?

First off, let me say that I am not trying to start a war here. However, I have noticed for awhile now (say a few months) that traffic on the HTF seems to have gone way down. The main boards I frequent are the Audio/Video Sources and Music Area boards, and the traffic looks to be very light. I seem to recall these boards being a lot busier some months ago. Is it just me or has traffic here fallen off? Again, I am not trying to start trouble, but what I have observed concerns me. Is it just me?

Hi, Keith!

Not sure that I have an answer to your question.

I handle the signups to this forum and I can
tell you that we continue to grow as a forum at
a rapid rate.

As to why some areas of our forum have seen a drop
in activity, I don't know. It seems we go through
these periods of inactivity at various points of
the year. I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks for the concern.

Ron, thanks. I am very glad to hear that the membership continues to grow rapidly. Admittedly, there had not been a lot of exciting front-end components coming out lately, so that could explain things being slow on the Audio/Video sources board. In looking at Crutchfield's web site and walking into some stores periodically, there is practically nothing new. I guess folks here have run out of questions to ask on the old components.

As for music, there has been more discussion there, but again, it has been slow. A lot of the discussions there center on DVD-Audio and SACD, and the release of new titles on these formats has been slow, as always.

Keith:

Actually our traffic numbers are up. That is the number of people that visit our site each day has increased. A lot of people that sign up to the forum never post or post infrequently.

Also, like Ron said we go through periods were we have an apparent drop in traffic but that is just for a brief period. As soon as people have something to say they will be back to posting.

Based on my experience, there are lulls usually during the pre-holiday periods and the pre-summer period. I am anticipating an upswell of traffic in the coming weeks. It's all cyclical. For example, traffic in the hardware areas always picks up after CES. In the Software area, obviously, when highly anticipated releases street the posting activity increases.

I am curious, though, why you were so apologetic in your original post, Keith. It was an honest question. What could be wrong with that?
