Re: HD DVD player updates

Merry Christmas!

See Rich Gallagher's post above as the same thing
happened to me 15 minutes ago. Same titles, too!

About to go watch Bram Stoker's Dracula, my first
Blu-Ray experience!

Re: HD DVD player updates

Scanner Darkly was the reason the A2s were delayed for almost two weeks. When Archway got the A2s from Toshiba, Universal told them to ship the players ASAP. When Archway said that they were still waiting for one of the included titles, Universal said it didn't matter as we were getting different titles anyway. That didn't sink in and Archway was still waiting for that title, until Ken stepped in and told them to ship them NOW, OVERNIGHT or else...

There was a second shipment of a couple of A2s that went out the week after the HTF EMA attendees players to some of out reviewers and staff. These players had all three of the regular EMA attendee movies and Heroes in the box.

What about you? It sounds like Archway is sending out Scanner Darkly and Heroes to all the original A2 recipients, and Heroes will the three titles to all the XA2 recipients so everyone is getting everything (which is cool). If by chance you don't get Seabiscuit, Scanner Darkly, or Babel, I'm going to just ask you to roll with it as it was a mistake that we got them as I had different titles substituted. It sounds like Heroes is starting to arrive, I haven't received mine yet, so I am in the same boat with some of you, I would ask for patience for your to arrive, and if you haven't seen it by this time next week please PM me as this thread is grown to where is is too hard for me to keep track of problems in it. Archway has The Last Starfighter, Knocked Up, and Elizabeth that they are in the process of shipping out, so I would expect that people will start to receive those over the next week or two. Transformers will be coming from Paramount. Paramount isn't sending out early screeners like they usually do for this release (still finishing the IT backend for the interactivity) so I imagine that these will go out sometime after Tuesday.

(By the way, I'm an XA2 recipient and, given this embarrassment of hardware and software riches, I don't feel screwed at all by not receiving three MORE free titles.)

THANK YOU!

Re: HD DVD player updates

Thx, Adam. Clearly I've overestimated the degree to which some guys who've already received all of the general HME attendee titles + Heroes are participating in this thread.

Re: HD DVD player updates

I picked up the Panny player today from FedEx Ground.

It's cool to hear that those of you who got the XA2's are getting Babel and Seabiscuit too.

We're practically drowning in free movies. What a terrible problem to have. Thanks, Adam!!

Re: HD DVD player updates

Picked up my player from FedEx Ground, brought it home and there was actually a message on my machine from FedEx about how to get to the place and hours of operation. A nice touch, and they were super friendly at the warehouse.

Now to the setup!

Re: HD DVD player updates

I'm glad the Panny BD10A finally showed up because I was waiting for it so I could replace my old venerable Panny RP-91 with the BD10A (and retain the 5.1 analog cabling that was in place for the RP-91's DVD-Audio hookup).

I'm going to have to shuffle some things around to fit the XA2 into my tower rack, so I'm not looking forward to that, but it has to be done.
