Re: HD DVD player updates
Yes Gord. It does show picked up and, in fact, now it's in transit from Indianapolis. A far haul from Cali. It's predicted delivery is Monday before 3pm, meaning I'll see it when I get home from work. I've already got the spare HDMI cable waiting for it.
Also, I know it's not an easy price point, but the Integra 7.8 has HDMI 1.3(a). Now I don't know what that means...except that it's working marvellously in my set up. It also handles True-HD, and DTS-HD, which I'm eager to hear from some of th BD titles. I used to be a Denon guy, and maybe I'll get back there sometime, but so far I'm really happy wth this Integra.
Oh!! Last question...I see so many talking about where they buy HDMI cables...
Am I the only one depending on Comcast for theirs? I've seriously gotten 4 6-footers from them, for Free! They give them away with the HD DVR's. They also, it turns out, give them away without a second thought. Far easier and cheaper to just drive over to Comcast local office at lunch fora free HDMI, than order and/or pay real money for. Just sharing my secret to HD wiring. Enjoy.
Regards,
Matt

Maybe I missed it in this thread, is the Monoprice 4 port HDMI switcher still the recommended route for most of us these days?
|
I recommed the Radiient HDMI switch ( http://www.radiient.com). HDMI and HDCP certified. Radiient is headed up by Jano Banks, the number two name on the HDMI patent. RAF had some problems with a name brand HDMI switch/splitter, that he replaced with another name brand one and neither worked. He put in a Radiient and has never looked back. Their stuff is as bulletproof as HDMI can get.
I also don't want to knock Integra or Onkyo, but the new Denon stuff is great. Robert Crawford just got a new model and RAF and I just got new AVR-3808s. All Denon HDMI receivers are HDMI 1.3a and the lockon seems a lot faster to me than the Integra. The AVR-3808 is a fantastic value compared to their high end models, and the 2308 and 2808 are very nice models as well.
No Signature...How boring is that!

Re: HD DVD player updates
I have a Denon 3806, will have to look at whether I can firmware upgrade the HDMI on that as I think it came out before HDCP was ratified. It only has 2 ins and 1 out tho, so thats not gonna work for me if I move everything to HDMI like I want to, as now I've got a big mix. My 360 would still stay on component and the apple laptop going to VGA in on the pj and both would keep their optical outs, but then if I moved it all to HDMI I'd fill a 4 port HDMI switcher. I havent had my old Denon SACD/DVD-A combo player up in a while, I used to use the analogue outs for that but I assume that HDMI will be flawless for everything it supports.

Re: HD DVD player updates
The Denon 3806 fully supports HDCP although I don't think it was certified. RAF was using a 3806, VP50 and Radiient HDMI switch with no problems....he did have problems with two other name brand HDMI switchers before he switched to the Radiient. The 3806 is a nice receiver. If you ever decide to upgrade it let me know....

Re: HD DVD player updates
Well, i'm having a heck of a time getting mine delivered. FEDEX told me they dont deliver on today, so it looks like i will have to find the FEDEX facility here,
and go pick it up tomorrow. They tried delivery on Thursday, but i was out of town for a meeting. I called them Thursday afternoon, and told them not to
try delivery again until Tuesday, as i wouldnt be available. For some reason they
tried delivery again on Friday AND Saturday. Now they tell me the truck didnt get the Tuesday request, so it 'might' get on the truck for Tuesday, if not I have to pick it up.
Win
p.s. still waiting for my new Onkyo receiver, so i wont be using it until that arrives anyhoo.

Re: HD DVD player updates
Adam, which HDMI cables are you using with the Denon 3808? I just picked one of these up the other day, and now I need a couple of cables (one for the Panny, one for the XA2). Did you go the monoprice route?
