So what are the experienced out of towners doing? Are you coming in for Monday activity or just the Tuesday activity through Thursday?

Most should arrive on Monday for the Tuesday-Thursday activities.

I wouldn't panic if you don't already have a "swag bag"

A late afternoon email from Grace Lee informs me that last year's attendance was about 3500. That was before VSDA joined IEMA to become EMA. I expect this year's attendance to be higher as both the home video industry and the gaming industry are now at the same show.

DTS will be exhibiting on the 3rd floor. If they're not giving a special HTF presentation it's worthwhile to stop by their suite. At past shows they've done a very nice demo and handed out sought after DTS demo DVDs.

I've found the "swag" has dropped a lot in previous years. Sure, you'll find some keychains, postcards, stickers and other stuff, but the number of screens has dropped a lot (and I can't say I've ever gotten anything good at the show). Fox was giving away X2 hats one year, and Family Guy t-shirts, but most of the stuff I pick up is junk.

I'm not saying you won't find interesting stuff there, just don't expect to come home with tons of movies on DVD.

The last day of the show is pretty much a "pack up" day for the exhibitors, especially after lunch.

Gord

Re: HTF/EMA Vegas 2007: Welcome! Post questions or say Hello here!

I disagree. I found that all that little stuff is appreciated by friends, family & co-workers who weren't there. When Pokemon was big and my niece and nephews were little, they loved getting stickers, etc. Star Wars baseball caps are always popular. My wife likes anything related to Pirates of the Caribbean and fantasy films. Guess you have to know your audience, including yourself. Chances are most of the screeners for easy pick up are not first run, big budget titles. But, I'm certain most of you will find product of your own particular interests.

Of course, it does help if you really write about the titles you acquire. Some of the better screeners are held for the working press. My particular interests are historical and military history documentaries and historical feature films and I've always been satisfied with what I received at the show or afterwards when I've followed up with the PR folks.

Does the Venetian offer complimentary wireless/wi-fi access for laptop users in individual room, or perhaps just on the ground floor?
