Glad to see more folks coming aboard. If you're lurking and thinking about this... stop thinking and shoot Ron that e-mail. I've been to 2 HTF meets in LA and they are a blast!!

Are all the tickets for LOVE gone?
You should e-mail Ron ASAP if you haven't already. He bought a small block. If he's out, there's no reason you can't buy your own ticket(s) directly from the Mirage/Love site. Last time I checked, there were still plenty of seats.

Also, one of my friends that's a Vegas nut wants to fly out and shack up in my room. Is there a problem with this?
My brother is doing the same thing. Ron told me there were no issues. He said we should be able to request a double-bed room, but they may not be able to accomodate. No worries, however, as all of these rooms are suites with sunken living room areas that include a sleeper sofa. Check the Venetian web site for room details.

The airport is 10 minutes away.
This is true IF you're driving and IF traffic isn't too bad. I suspect since we are completely based in the hotel very few will want to rent a car. If you're not, you should allow at least 15-30 minutes to get from the hotel to the airport if you're taking a cab. If you take the cheaper option of one of the airport van companies, they're going to tell you to be be ready for pickup 2.5-3 hours before your flight.

Re: Welcome

I can't really make any promises at this point...but I'll be driving into Vegas for the EMA event, as I only live a couple hours away in California.

I have a large SUV (Nissan Armada) that will seat up to 7 passengers...as long as you are going somewhere I wanna go - I won't mind any tagalongs

Looking forward to meeting everyone...as this will be my first HTF event.

This is what drives me nuts about the shuttles. Take one from the airport to the hotel and you may have to stop at 5-6 other hotels first so they can drop off other passengers. Going back to the airport they want to pick you up ridiculously early. In the past I've lied about the time of my return flight so I'd arrive at McCarran at a more reasonable hour. This time I'll probably just take a cab.

Re: Welcome

Just a thought--depending on when we arrive on Monday, we might be able to meet up at the airport and share a cab. Same with departure.

As for shows... I figure I am going to hold out on getting tickets to Phantom and Blue Man Group until I see what EMA activities are planned. Who knows? This might be one of the planned activities.

Also, if The Beatles are not your bag, I highly recommend Ka at the MGM Grand.

The only Vegas Cirque I've not seen is Zumanity. And that show scares me too much.

Re: Welcome

Thank you, Ron! I can't say how excited I am to get the chance to see you, Packy, Greg, Steve, and EVERYONE, again. In my mind, there's nothing quite like this HTFamily.

Let's face it, we're guys AND girls, of all ages, from all 'round the world, speaking the same language.
"Enjoy your Home Theater!"

From BBQ's at Scooter's, to shopping at the Virgin Mega Store in NY, to sharing a hotel a having drinks at the bar with Frank Gorshin in LA... the HTF is the one RELIABLY fun crew of guys and ladies to hang out with that I've had for the last ... 8 years?

I've introduced plenty of my friends to the Forum, and gotten a few to come on Meets. They're die-hard about Home Theater too, now, and more importantly... they're happy about THE PEOPLE they've met because of it.

If you can come and have fun with us, COME!

See you all SOON.

Matt

Regards,
Matt

Re: Welcome

Me too, Steve. We have been trying to get you out to
many of our past events. Glad you finally made one.

We have been doing HTF events of various sorts for the
past 6-7 years. What is interesting is that the same people
show up each and every time. On our present list of individuals
coming out to Vegas, 95% are HTF MEET veterans that have
attended at least 2 or 3 prior Hollywood and/or Scooterpalooza
meets.

.....even Scooter himself is coming out to Vegas this year.

It's really cool that most everyone coming will have already
met another one of the attendees. It's like this large group
of people that just keep coming out year after year to see
each other and enjoy whatever is being offered.

...but that Pauswinski guy.....jeesh! He's been to
every event and we can't get rid of him (damn groupie!)

It just goes to show that after all these years we manage to
have a good time with each other.

I really don't feel comfortable posting the list of attendees on
the forum (though I'll post it amongst the attending group very soon),
but I have been sharing the list with our staff and we are all quite
elated by the amount of people we know who will be returning for
this event.

Look forward to seeing many of you again, and even moreso,
I look forward to meeting members attending for the first time.
