Re: HTF DVD REVIEW: Hamburger Hill 20th Anniversary Edition
If this DVD is so good then you're a tough grader? I watched this film in a movie theater back in the day and thought it was one of the best Vietnam movies especially since it was based on a true event. I was going to buy this release, but I decided to wait until it comes out on BRD.

Re: HTF DVD REVIEW: Hamburger Hill 20th Anniversary Edition
Robert, I admit I probably am a tough grader. This DVD is a good special edition of a film that simply didn't engage me. I know this film has its fans, and the special features on this disc should be a good incentive for them. I try to be fair, and include all the factors before assigning points or stars. (That's why the MST3K review had a lower score - but I'll probably hear about that one later today...)

Re: HTF DVD REVIEW: Hamburger Hill 20th Anniversary Edition
I have the original release and did a comparison. The new edition has a bit better audio but not by much. I think Lionsgate used the same video transfer as the first release, which was pretty good actually. I noticed some specs and dust on the original print but they were missing on the new one. If you already own it, it may be worth a double dip for the extras. I'm a sucker for this flick so it was a no brainer for me.

Re: HTF DVD REVIEW: Hamburger Hill 20th Anniversary Edition
Any word on a BD release of this?
It may not have a very involved story, but many people consider this film to be the most realistic depiction of combat in Vietnam yet seen on a movie screen. (I wasn't there, but I don't doubt it.) It's more for war film buffs than for a general audience. "How wonderful it will be to have a leader unburdened by the twin horrors of knowledge and experience." -- Mr. Wick |

Re: HTF DVD REVIEW: Hamburger Hill 20th Anniversary Edition
I have the original release, which I thought was pretty decent (aside from its barbone-ness), but I think I'll get the new one for the extras.
