What projector and screen

Hey all I am working on my basement now and want to get a 106" grey motorized flush mounted screen and I am soooo lost.

I am looking at these models for the projector (sub $3000), 1080P is a must
Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 1080UB
Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 1080
Sony VPL-VW40
Mitsubishi HD5000

any advise..

Re: What projector and screen

Out of the choices you listed I'd probably go with the Sony. I prefer the LCOS technology over standard LCD. I've seen the VW50 in the past (which is supposedly what the VW40 is based on) and I enjoyed it. I've seen the Epson and wasn't impressed, though many others have been. I've never seen the Mits in person but have read good things about it. Don't know if that helps at all, but that's my .02 cents.

I can recommend the Epson 1080UB. It calibrates out very nicely, and is capable of an accurate color pallette. It also has a relatively bright light output so it will help to give your image a bit of "pop".

Threadjack apologies.

Gregg, what's your opinion of the cooling fan noise on the Epson? ProjectorReviews has said that Epson's tend to be louder than most LCDs, but "louder" itself is a relative term. I'm looking to upgrade from an Infocus X1 and my biggest complaint is the fan and/or color wheel noise. I've been leaning towards the Sanyo Z2000 for the performance/$$$ and every "pro" and owner review comments on how quiet they are, but I could probably convince myself to jump to the 1080UB for the extra lumens/black level if noise isn't an issue.

Projector position will probably end up in the 3'ish range directly over my primary seat.
