Mitsu xx73x, y657, etc lamp noise?

Greetings, all!

I have finally broken open my piggy bank and upgraded to a lovely big RP DLP. Due to a sudden price drop, I grabbed a Mitsu Y657. Jan 1 I completely cleaned and re-wired all my equipment, and ran the set for about 8 hours straight. Except for the poor performance of a certain team from my home state, watching the Rose bowl in Hi-Def (my first HD experience) was impressive. Hey look, you can count the people in the stands!

The only real downer to the whole day was a certain (excessive) level of noise from the lamp, colorwheel, or power supply. I'd characterize it as a whining screech that bores a hole in my head when I'm in just the wrong spot in my room.

Is there any consensus or opinion on how much noise is normal? Since this set is functionally identical to the whole 57xxx, 65xxx, and 73xxx series as well as the Y57, Y65, and Y73 series, I'm hoping someone will have some words of comfort for me.

Right now I'm thinking of building a chimney with sound absorbing material around the lamp vents!

never mind...searched to exhaustion here and found nothing. Took a few seconds to find this:

e-tape fix

looks like I was right about the source of the noise!

All I can say about this TV is what I heard a ten-year-old boy say as I was loading it into my pickup: "holy shiiiiii....."
