TV Flutters while watching movies

I did a search and had no luck, I have a 32" Sony TV and Sony 5 Disc DVD changer, a Yamaha Receiver RXV-992, a Kenwood 10" powered subwoofer, Klipsh speakers, and a Monster Cable surge protecter. When I watch a movie, especially an action movie, and the volume gets going and the sub gets hitting the TV starts to flutter. Especially in the middle, it almost seems like it doesn't get enough power. I didn't know if this is an amp draw on the 120 volt circuit in the house, or a problem with the Monster power supply. Or the TV or DVD player, etc. Any info, or cures would be greatly appreciated.

Re: TV Flutters while watching movies

Brack777-I don't know the answer, but I know a couple tests I'd try.

1. Is the sub near the TV? Maybe there is some electromagnetic thing happening. Move the sub away from the TV and see if it still happens.

2. If it is a power issue, you could check this by turning off your receiver and see if the TV acts the same.

3. (Now I'm going out on a limb) maybe the sub is shaking the hell out of the guns (or whatever) in the TV. This would be solved by moving the sub away from the TV or lowering the level of the sub. You can to test this by having someone (preferably your wife or girlfriend) jump on the floor while you watch (the TV).

Re: TV Flutters while watching movies

The sub is not that close, it's about five or six feet away from the TV. The receiver has to be on because it definately has something to do with the volume being up and the sub and speakers boomin away. It also doesn't appear to be vibration related. It seems to be a draw on something, receiver, subwoofer, tv or something. I just don't know where the draw is coming from. The AC wire or the RCA wire or something else. I just figured other people would have had the same problem.

Turn off the sub and see if it still happens

I could be the vibrations or more likely, it is plugged into the same circuit and is drawing more power during the loud scenes

Try plugging the sub into a different outlet

I'll give that a shot, I was trying to avoid that because right now they are running through the monster cable surge protector. At least that would tell me if it was the problem though, so I'll try it. Thanks

Re: TV Flutters while watching movies

It's magnetic interference from the speakers- my 40-inch Mitsuibishi's done this for the 10 years I've had it, usually in the upper left corner. I thought it might have been the picture tube not getting enough power at first, but it always corresponds with the sound being loud. I have shielded speakers but apparently those aren't 110% effective. It'll be time to get a new TV soon anyways.
