PLS HELP!! Samsung DLP not working!!

My Samsung HL-P5063W will not "work." When I turn the TV on, nothing comes up onsreen - no picture, no TV menus, no display of any kind... only a dimly lit grayish background. I've tried dimly (to reset) the TV several times but nothing helps.

I bought a new lamp and installed it but same problem. It appears that the bulb is lighting up as I can see the light when standing behind the TV. I haven't received any warnings/signs that my bulb was dying out, but Samsung suggesting replacing it.

I've searched the forums but had no luck finding any threads that were helpful. If anybody has any ideas, or can show me some threads that might be helpful I would GREATLY appreciate it!!!

Thank you!!

Re: PLS HELP!! Samsung DLP not working!!

Hi,

I am sure you have done this but have you checked the troubleshooting guide for your TV in the user manual?

I noticed on mine that certain lights on the front display will blink in succession to let you know what the problem is.

Did you hve the probem before you replaced the bulb? FI so then it is either the color wheel or the DLP engine. Neither are cheap fixes or so I understand.

I don't think there is much else that can go wrong in a DLP...

Sorry not more help.

Dave

Yeah, troublesetting really only offers the unplug/reset as the solution. When I called Samsung, they asked what lights were showing and when I told them suggested replacing the lamp.

Re: PLS HELP!! Samsung DLP not working!!

I know several people who've had to have their color wheels replaced, although the symptoms were different; the color wheel started making noise. Not sure if that type of failure can cause the symptoms you're seeing, but it's worth asking Samsung about.
