3 projector, 3 screens -- a virtual car racing cockpit -- NEED YOUR HELP!

Hi guys,

I have a couple questions. I'm setting up a PC gaming system that will be using 3 projectors to create a seamless single (very) wide screen for a racing simulations (practice for the real thing.)

Since I wont be viewing movies and will only be using this for video gaming, can you give me your opinion on using cheap screens like these:

http://www.techforless.com/cgi-bin/tech4less/74647
http://www.nextag.com/Draper-Consul-...70/prices-html

I dont really need a screen that is going to be more than 60 inches since I am putting 3 of them side by side and need them to fit inside the game room I am using. The idea is to use a screen large enough so that the environment, cars, etc. in the game look to be of realistic (real world) size. At 50 inches per screen, that'sgoing to give me over 12 feet of screen which I think will simulate real life sizes pretty good -- might even be slightly too large. Anybody know? The racing sims I will be using are rFactor and GTR2.

My last question has to do with the projector. The computer will send the game video signal to a dsevice called the Triple Head 2 Go which spluts that signal into 3 parts and sends one to each projector. Each signal cannot eceed 1280X1024. All three screens together will create a 3840X1024 image. Projectors that can handle 1280X1024 natively are quite pricey. I have seen cheaper ones that can handle this resolution in a compressed mode. How does that look when you do that? What cheap projectors can you recommend for something like this? Remember, I need to buy 3 of them. I was looking at this one -- what do you think?

I'm on a budget and want to get the best I can for the least amount, but not use something that is so poor that it will really hurt the final product.

Thanks for your help.

If you know of other projectors that are of lesser cost and provide better quality, please let me know. I am based in the USA so the prices are in US Dollars.

To make a seamless image is very difficult. All the projectors must output the same brightness,so the bulb life must be the same across them all,a certain amount of matching can be done with menu's etc. but my friend has a multi projector setup. he bought a projector 2nd hand and the brightness is very different. Also, in professional sims, software is used to dull the image at the joins otherwise a bright line appears,no matter how you try and align the image. this light bleed cant be corrected without specialist software. i would advise not trying to have a seamless set-up.have an inch or so between the screens. my setup up consists of a 92 inch screen, playseat and logitech g25 and ps3 running f1 and soon gt5. its very good. if using a pc for the simulator, you can look at head tracking hardware, which will be a lot cheaper. you can find videos on youtube under track ir.
