Sony KDLV32XBR1 Upscaling Question
I have a Sony LCD TV that is native 1366x768. As I understand it, the Sony will scale a signal to its native resolution. Upscaling DVD players upscale to 720p or 1080i. These two are not what my TV's native resolution is so the TV will perform final scaling to meet its native resolution. The question then is, what is the point of using an upscaling DVD player? If my TV performs the final scaling, wouldn't the picture quality depend on the quality of the scaler in my TV? If not, what would be better to send to my TV, 720p or 1080i?
This part is for Greg Loewen.
Would I gain much in picture quality if I had my XBR calibrated? What is the recommended "burn in" time before calibration is done?
Thanks.
