1080P vs 1920x1080 in Digital TV Mag

Hello.

I am in the process of buying a Samsung HLS5687W DLP and want to make sure I have 1080P in native mode for connection with future devices. Am I missing something, the magazine states that some monitors are 1080P and some are 1920x1080 native. I thought these were one and the same.

I have that set and I is indeed a true 1080p set capable of accepting 1080p signals over HDMI and Component.

It's native resolution is 1920x1080p, and all material will be displayed as such.

It's a great set!

Almost all current CRT models with 1080 scan lines are 1080i. All other technology displays (LCD, etc.) with 1080 rows of pixels are 1080p at the display element.

1920x1080 (horizontal pixel count stated) suggests a non-CRT model which in turn suggests 1080p. Having 1080 rows of pixels does not mean there are 1920 pixels in each row so it is conceivable for there to be a 1080p model that is not 1920x1080.
