360 problem with projector (VGA)

My Xbox 360 wigs out when hooked up through the VGA port of my older PTL200U projector--every so often (and sometimes frequently) it will lose the signal for about a half second and then come right back on. I have posted on here in games and on avs and no one has had a decent idea of what it might be. I did NOT have this problem via component, but I love the VGA because it IMO gives a far better picture than component on my rig. I have the resolution running at 1280x720 (which I realize this projector cannot do, but it still looks great). Anyone please have any ideas? Thanks XBOX LIVE GAMERTAG: HARPUA65
