PQ Question on HDTV Panny

I am still thinking and researching about a panny HD, but I have one final question before the purchase.

I see that there are SD shows transmitted on HD channels. Is it worthwhile to watch SD shows on HD channels or just watch it on SD channels? Is the PQ better than SD channels?

I heard that there are black bars on the sides of SD programs transmitted on HD channels. Does this affect burn-in problems?

Thanks

You will see a big difference between SD vs. HD. It's from night to day. Most prime time shows, such as LOST on ABC is in HD. Try watching the HD version and going back to SD and you will know that the HD broadcast is well worth it.

SD shows on HD channels? Usually these shows looks better on the HD channels, but they have side bars. Side bars can affect burn-in, but burn-ins are becoming less of an issues.

I prefer watching SD shows on SD channels because they are stretch out and fills the screen. I don't like the side bars.

SD shows on HD channels can look worse because you see all of the flaws in the material.

I tend to stick with SD shows with their SD channels.

On the HD channels, sometimes you get both. The program may be in HD (and 16:9) but the commercials often are SD. On my HD plasma display SD material does look better on the HD channels vs the SD channels though that's usually only programs like the early evening news....so rather than being concerned with black bars I'll usually just switch to the SD channel offering (hope that made sense) Some programming I guess I just don't care much about PQ. (new, weather, etc)

Not sure about the Panny, but my display will allow zoom or stretch even on the HD input so I guess that may be an option too.
