interlace scan lines 55XS?

hey guys. i recently switched my Denon 2910 from HDMI to Component because of various posts stating that the 55XS does a much better job de-interlacing. now i'm noticing scan lines on certain DVD's. the picture does seem a bit smoother except for the "jagged" scan lines during certain scenes. any reason i'm seeing this after reading all these positive posts about component being better than HDMI?

I take it that this is an LCD RPTV? IF so ... then "scanlines" can sometimes be vertical banding artifacts ... most easily caused by motion in the up/down axis. The Y axis. This would be a weakness of LCD.

Another cause might be jaggies from video based material ...

Best will usually be what is best in try'n out all the different way to run combo's of equippment.

Hard to interpret exactly what you are see'n and when you say component? Are you switching all the way back to 480i over component? Otherwise your 2910 is still doing the de-interlacing anyways.

yes. i'm connecting my Denon with component cables. i'm sending a straight 480i signal to my sony lcd tv & i see jagged edges on a lot of DVD's.

Try using the cinemotion feature on the TV then ...

Good call, it does sound like it is not using 3:2 pulldown, so I agree with Michael TLV.
