Anyone have a source for comprehensive reviews on DLP HD TVs?

I am looking to upgrade in the not so distant future and can't decide what to get. I have noticed that there is a VERY limited number of 1080i/p DLPs on the market.

I saw the thread discussing the 1080i DLPs and was wondering if waiting would be best or just go ahead with a 720 DLP.

Any suggestions?

Thanks
Mark

First, lets correct a misconception.

A DLP-based display is inherintly progressive.

Yes, it may accept a 1080i input, but it can only display a progressive image.

The catch seems to be that right now,

(a) few sets accept 1080p, and
(b) there aren't that many 1920x1080 dlp chips out on the consumer market just yet.

Thanks Leo.

So if I have it right, the best available RP DLP is 1280x720?

Very likely, although that may be changing as we speak - but probably not this model generation.

There may be some higher resolution digital RPTVs, but those would be LCD or LCOS based.

I'd really tell you to hold out until at least June or July. That's when the 1080p read DLP's will start coming out from Samsung. After that, Mitsubishi and the other companies that are making DLP TV's will be bringing out their 1080p DLP's well into the Fall.

Wait a little longer!

Sweet, thanks for the tips. I think I will take your advice and wait...probably until late Fall.

Thanks again!
