Hi Guy`s,
There is going to be quite a stir , in the months to come and I would like some opinions.
First we have Panasonic , introducing the first plasma HD tv`s with "cable-card" slot.
Then we have the new Sony LCD`s (950) that have HD tuners without cable-cards.
Now in July Sony will introduce there new Tube / KD-34XBR960 which will have a cable card slot.
So will cable companies go with the cable card thing or will they still require you to get a box. If they give you a card , and you have been paying for mulit-set service and now have a single TV that is "digital" , will they offer a bill adjustment?
Are they going to work , or is the Idea of turning a new TV into an "addressable cable box" really the way to go?
We have enough of the "big brother factor" already.IMO
Quality , they are still selling the Sony KV-34XBR910 (w/free stand) for $2499.00 (some stores have already got the word to reduce that amount by $500 bringing the price to 1999.00) But what about the 30" that is still 1999.00.
Also the new Sony KD43XBR960 has a MSRP of $2199.00. So who is going to go to a store that sells all 3 and decide. If you just get analog and don`t plan to change (if you receive cable , the signal will be down-graded to an NTSC = even after there is no more NTSC (so I was told), the logical choice would be the 30" because watching DVD`s would be about the same size as watching them on the 34" (not really that much difference).
But if you already have or plan to receive HD programing then the choice would have to be a big as you can fit !!
Anyway I would like to get this debate growing, time is wasting Folk`s

and the end of NTSC as we have known it for over 60 yr`s is coming to an end.
Any and all replies welcome.
Thank you for your time.
Gary
