Toshiba 43A10 $500 - Good deal ??


Someone wants to sell me a 2 year old Toshiba 43A10 for $500. Is this a good deal? Thanks.

There's no such thing as a "good deal" on any used display. Avoid, and apply that money toward a new set (and avoid showroom floor models as well).

really? I mean... there HAS to be a point where a used set is a good deal. What if it were $20?

Of course it is not $20... but there has to be a piont where a used set deal can't be passed up.

She actually just told me she'd do $430 for it.

Don, do you know how she used the set? What her picture settings have been? That is, has she run the thing in torch mode, the way nearly all non-home-theater enthusiasts do? If she has, then the set already is ruined.

How many hours does she have on the thing?

Because you have no control over those things, it's best to avoid a used display of any type -- and that goes even more so for RPTVs.

It's not like, say, a vintage amplifier or even a receiver.
