JVC PLASMA $2,489.95 Any Good?

Friend wanted info on this JVC 42" Plasma model GM-V42UG that ECOST has on countdown right now. I know the Panny's are good & Panasonic & JVC are in bed together so any thoughts on this JVC & the price of $2,489.95 is delivered. Yes he knows it's an EDTV. Thanks.

That model number doesn't jive with the latest JVC 42ED plasma (42WV74PD) display. I think that the 42WV (ED) and 42WX (HD) are their first foray into the market. ????? Could it be a unit made for a different country? The price is attractive but if it's not a current model or ??? it could be risky.

That said, I love my new JVC 42 HD plasma....great product.
