Sony KV-32HS510 question

I know the Sony 4:3 HDTV's have the 16:9 squeeze trick...

so everytime i watch 16:9 video im gonna have to turn this 16:9 enhanced mode on to get the best quality?
Or does it do it automatically?

I have a 27" NON-HD sony with the 16:9 enhanced mode, but it doesnt do it automatically for 16:9 video.

Anyone know?
