HDTV Help - best starter set that can hook up to computer

I'm looking into getting a new tv and thought about getting into hdtv

I'd like to be able to hook up my computer to the hdtv set

is this possible to use the computer video out as a hi-def source?

the computer video out looks really bad on my normal tv, can't read text

I would also like the set for watching movies, I don't currently own a progressive scan dvd player but plan on getting one

I was looking at the samsung 26' widescreen, Mfr. model #TXN2668WHF, it's on sale at sears for $600

but maybe a non-widescreen would be better bet since I usually watch regular tv

any info or help you all could give would help a lot

thanks

I am doing the exact same thing as I write this note! Anyway, I hooked up the PC and HDTV via S-video and it looks horrible. I have tried tweaking the screen/display settings of the PC, but to no avail.

What I am noticing on my Toshiba 42inch HDTV is that the center of the screen looks ok, but all 4 edges look pretty rough, there is even a shadow. I have tried it in all 4 TV screen modes (Natural, Theater 1 etc.) and nothing seems to fix it. The center is clearer than that edges, but even the center looks pretty rough.

I sure as heck hope this isn't as good as it gets.

Any thoughts?
