Which tv set?

Hi,

My father just bought himself a new HDTV and is offering to give me his old 35" RCA set (model F35750ST), which I believe he bought around 1995.

I currently have an older 27" Sony set, model KV-27HFR, which I believe dates from around 1987-88.

Now, I'm wondering if I should really replace the old Sony by the RCA. Logically, I guess I should go for the more recent RCA set which has S-Video input (the Sony only has RCA jacks), and probably a higher resolution. However, a tech where I brought the Sony for a minor repair told me something along the lines that "they don't make 'em as good anymore" and that the components were very good quality and still in great shape. I admit that I do like the picture on this set. I haven't watched my father's set many times, and so I can't really compare. All I remember is that it had rather bad sound.

Anyway, does anyone know both models and could advise me?

Thanks!

I would hook up the RCA just to see what the larger screen does for your viewing pleasure.
