Thought I had decided on th Toshiba 57HX83 until I got offered a pretty good deal on the Toshiba HDX82 (can get HDX82 locally for 100.00 less than ordering 57HX83 online). Both are cinema series models but the HDX82 is 2003 model and HX83 2004 model. Does anybody have an opinion good or bad on the HDX82?

HDX82 series had CRT arching problems. You might want to do a search on that here and AVS forum

For a variety of reasons, I'd stick with the '83 models.

Incidentally, there is no 55" Toshiba, so you must mean either 51HX83 or 57HX83.
