Direct view 36" or 42" projection?

I'm helping my father-in-law building a small HT. He's hesitating between a 36" direct view by Toshiba, or a 42-43 inches projection (Sony or Toshiba). He ask me for some advice. Owning a Toshiba 65HDX82, I can't really help him!

How does the 2 PQ compare, I mean with so little difference in inches (36 compare to 42)?

Me, I think I would go with the direct view...but I've never seen a 42 projection...

Help us here please.

Well keep in mind that if you put a 4:3 image unstretched on a 42" 16:9 TV, its size is equivalent to that of a 36" 4:3 TV. So if he watches a lot of DVDs, I would definitely go for the 42" since you get the larger widescreen picture.
