Encoder card with HDMI input?

Is it at all possible to record a digital signal from a set-top box to a HTPC with digital video input? Or is digital harddisk recording reserved only for those boxes that has a harddisk in them? So far I've only been able to find recording interfaces with analog input, any help greatly appreciated...
