Watch your mp3 headers in iTunes 7!
The other day I went to play "Penny Lane". I knew I had it, but it wasn't showing up in my library. I went to the folder and sure enough the file was there. It played fine in WMP and VLC. Tried to add it back to iTunes; no go. After a bit of research, I found a program called mp3val and ran on my entire mp3 collection to fix headers. A third of them had gotten corrupted by iTunes. When I added the music folder back into iTunes, 20 songs that had "disappeared" showed up! So if your music starts disappearing, check your file headers.
