Is there any way to *bleep* songs in iTunes?

I'm building some playlists in iTunes that will be played at my wedding reception, and there are a couple of songs that I'd like to play, but that contain an "offensive" word or two that I'd prefer some of the older and/or religious guests at the reception not hear.

Is there any software that I could use to silence the vocals in the song for the short time during the word(s) or is there any other way to edit the song without butchering it? I'd rather use something in OSX, but I also have an XP machine available.

Thanks for ANY ideas!!

The easiest way would be to see if the clean version is available for purchase on the iTunes store.

Or hit up walmart's downloads, they are fairly likely to have clean versions there.

Aside from that, after you remove the digital protection via some means you can take the song into audacity (free) and edit that portion of the song so that you can't hear what's being said.

I should clarify...the songs are not ones that I bought from iTunes but that I ripped from CD into iTunes AAC.

Would GarageBand be able to do the editing? I haven't played around with it too much.

Garage Band would work, but I think Audacity is easier to use and more straightforward for what you want to do. Plus it's free.

Thanks for the Audacity recommendation! It worked quite well (and the price was right!!), and was fairly easy to figure out.

Thanks!
